  4.         The way in which fixtures are handled appears complex.
  5.         It's not, but some background info can help ...
  6.  
  7.         Pro-Football needs lists of fixtures to work from.
  8.         Some users will just want to predict the pools. Others will
  9.         want to just bet on the Bookies Long List or Sections List,
  10.         others will want to bet on a combination of them all.
  11.  
  12.         What you need to do is create a 'Main List' of fixtures.
  13.         From this main list, you can then go on to create as many
  14.         sub-lists as you like.
  15.  
  16.         This is probably as clear as mud, but rest assured that as
  17.         you use the program it will suddenly click into place, and
  18.         you will realise how beautifully simple it is.

  20.         Some specific examples would be ...

  22.         You want to predict just the pools. The pools coupon would be
  23.         your main list - that's it - end of story.
  24.  
  25.         You want to predict the pools and the long list. The long
  26.         is normally best as your main list, as it tends to include
  27.         most of the pools matches as well. A separate pools list
  28.         would be created semi-automatically (more on that soon).
  29.  
  30.         The advantage of this system is that later on, you can ask
  31.         Pro-Football to find all of the draws on the pools list, or
  32.         all of the aways on the long list etc. Lets take one more
  33.         example ...

  35.         You want to predict the pools, long list, and the sections
  36.         list. You would set up the long list as your main list. The
  37.         pools list is created for you from this, and you can then set
  38.         up the sections list (If the sections list contains 6 sections
  39.         then you would set them up as Sections List A, B, C, D etc,
  40.         that way, you can ask for the draws from section A etc).

  42.         OK, so let's look at the fixtures menu.

  44.         We'll actually cover the options in reverse order.

  46.         LOAD/DELETE FIXTURE FILE
  47.         Each set of lists is saved on disk as a single Fixture File.
  48.         This option lets you either load in a set of lists that you
  49.         created earlier in the week, or delete one that you no longer
  50.         require.

  52.         CREATE/AMEND FIXTURE LISTS
  53.         When you select this option, Pro-Football looks to see if you
  54.         have already loaded a fixture file - if so then it assumes that
  55.         you want to view/alter these lists (this is covered later,
  56.         when you come to it).

  58.         If no file has been loaded it gives the choice of either
  59.         loading one, or creating your MAIN LIST.

  61.         So how do we create this famous 'Main List'?
  62.  
  63.     All the letters of the alphabet will appear on screen. Simply
  64.     click on the first letter of the Home Team's name, then the 
  65.     second and so on. Pro-Football looks at all of the
  66.     possibilities and tries to guess which team you are referring
  67.     to, displaying a list of teams down the right hand side of
  68.     the screen. You can either click directly on one of the
  69.     team names, or select another letter to narrow the list
  70.     down further.
  71.     When you have the required team, repeat for the away team.
  72.     
  73.     A box will then appear on screen containing the match 
  74.     details and 4 icons.

  76.     The icons are ...

  78.     ON-POOLS
  79.     Either a tick for yes, or a cross for no.
  80.     You can alter the setting by clicking on the icon.
  81.     Remember, this is your main list that you are creating. A
  82.     separate pools list is generated - it is made up of all of
  83.     the matches in your main list that have been defined as 
  84.     being 'on-pools' (although you can add extra matches to it
  85.     if necessary).
  86.     As default, all matches are set to being 'on-pools', if you
  87.     are entering data from the long list, you will find that very
  88.     few matches aren't on the coupon, so you will only need to
  89.     alter this setting occasionally.
  90.     Of course, if you are doing JUST the pools, then all matches
  91.     will be 'On-Pools' so you can leave the setting alone.

  94.     Lets you re-enter the last match if you made a mistake.

  96.     NO MORE
  97.     When you have entered all the matches to be included on the
  98.     main list, select this option.

  100.     NEXT
  101.     When you have checked that the two teams in the match, and
  102.     the pools setting is correct, click on next to go onto the
  103.     next match on the list.

  105.     This process is repeated until all matches have been entered.
  106.     Surprisingly, once you get used to it, it only takes a few 
  107.     minutes to enter all of the weekends fixtures!

  109.     This was a fairly long chunk of HELP to take in, but if
  110.     you've read it all, then it should all become clear when you
  111.     start to enter data.
